Bluezy toonz approached Cosy after building their set ready to gig and realising that the 15 venues they had approached all wanted to hear them before hiring their performance. They had a gig in 4 days and they needed a road ready recording optimised for selling their performance and showing off their strongest personality.
Cosy's Bob Turley joined them at a practice session to assess the project. Bluezy toonz wanted an honest recording of what the potential venues could expect from a live performance. The band's minimal recording experience, meant they were much more comfortable playing together and considering the budget, it was therefore deemed the most efficient course of action to record the band all together on location and then proceed to record vocals back at the studio and focus our efforts on the popular vocal and its energy. Cosy turned up and set the whole scenario up in a couple of hours. Treating the room with heavy drapes and focussed acoustic absorbers in key locations, providing everyone with headphones and micing up the kit and the indivual instruments.
The band continued to practice after the recording session ready for the gig and Cosy recorded the whole practice for them too as listening back wouold cleary benifit them and give them a refrence for discussion on each others role. The additional focus on the vocals in the studio meant that the dynamic between Christie & Guy, the two main vocals could really stand out and show off the bands strengths. The whole band felt well at home in Cosy's space and focussed on the task in hand. (A cup of tea and biscuits!). The opportunity to hear themselves clearly and do multiple takes clearly benifitted them to hone in on their delivery.
The whole project was recorded, mixed and mastered in a turnaround of 3 days ready to start a promotional campaign ahead of the gig.
